The interconnectedness between art and design and the world around us, is not only intrinsic to my teaching and learning practice but to my own artist practice as well. I am curious about the intersections between areas that historically may not have been examined in conjunction with one another. When unexpected elements, experiences, or discipline areas are brought together, new perspectives and ways of seeing and creating become possible. As a teacher across Visual Art, and Design & Technology I have embraced student programs such as STEM and STEAM that provide frameworks for how to ideate, innovate, prototype, and curate solutions. I facilitate the design process for students.

 

While completing my Masters of Cross-Discipline Study in Art and Design, my focus was on writing art-centric curriculum that connected to other discipline areas. I have designed and facilitated inter-disciplinary educational programs and case studies that explore the notion of 'art+...' (art + science, art + religion, art + environment, art + math...). This is certainly a passion of mine that I continue to be inspired by and committed to.
